Having worked as an engineer for Nikon cameras, I made the bold decision to pursue a career as a photographer and started working as photographic assistant. Eventually this lead me to Milan, where I worked as a fashion photographer.
It’s in the US that I discovered a new creative outlet for art and sculpture, having a step mother at the time who was the head professor at Berkeley in the arts department, definitely assisted my journey along way :)
So what does all of this have to do with cake insiders, curiously you may ask?
Bear with me, and you'll see in just a moment...
But...let's say, that life at times truly is like a box of chocolates…ha ha! Hence, the well adapted banner image I created for our about us page:)
Having then immigrated to Australia to further pursue my career as a photographer and an abstract painter, It’s here where I met a lovely girl who happened to have a good friend that was a preschool teacher/cake decorator.
Though I must admit, I didn't get to see any of her creations until several years down the track. In fact, not until we eventually connected on facebook that I began seeing her elaborated master pieces on my newsfeed, and was completely taken by the craftsmanship she'd put into her work.
It’s at this stage that I pretty much discovered a new passion.
I'd previously worked with sculpting clay, so trading it in for a little bit of butter "n" icing sugar, how hard could it be lol? Anyway, long story short, I insisted if I could possibly photograph her stunning cakes as I truly wanted to be part of it all.
Shortly after, I did my very first cupcake workshop with her and some of her students.
And as the saying goes…the rest is history and cake insiders was born :)
